The Fediverse has these centralized chokepoints:

1. DNS
2. development of servers (mitigated somewhat by multiple implementations of activitypub
3. development of activitypub standard 
4. to some extent, extremely popular blocklists.

fixes: 
1. no (realistic, mass-deployable) fix on the horizon for DNS
2. many, diverse implementations of ActivityPub, with a focus on other tasks besides microblogging
3. competing standards revisions where the standard is stupid, like AP-lite. 
4. Could get bad someday, not actually that bad right now. People who use blocklists should just make sure they at least cursorily review them if they're going to use them.
