kepstin (kepstin@glitch.social)'s status on Tuesday, 13-Nov-2018 03:38:52 JST kepstin @halcy in the cars with large amounts of metal above the hood the sticking up bit is typically a supercharger mounted above the engine along with an air intake, the motor is still under the hood.
In the case where it's just a scoop in the hood protruding, i've heard it called a "shaker", because of how the scoop shakes when the motor is running.
