@simsa04 I don't really know if all fediverse projects have been contacted or have responded to address group compatibility. I'm guessing that the ones which have, will see some sort of inter-operation.
Besides that, yes, it was a bit of a rant about Mastodon, that keeps adding "features" (sometimes they are, sometimes not) and the rest of the fediverse have to keep up... if they can. It is a bad scenario, if you ask me. -

I'm not quite sure I understand what "compatibility" of groups in MS and GS means, esp. when in v3 of GS devs try to ensure compatibility with various other "projects". Or do you presume that groups may work across GS and some other "projects", but not with Mastodon? Would that still mean that people on Mastodon can't subscribe to groups on GS? -

STEP 2) Create an I2P tunnel from device to server
--------------------------------------------------------------
- Run the router.
- Instructions for 'I2P for Android' app:
. - Select 'TUNNELS'
. - While in 'Client tunnels' subsection tap the plus (+) button,
. - Select Client tunnel > Standard client
. - Jump down in these instructions to "Instructions for both".
- Instructions for 'i2prouter'
. - Go to the Hidden Service Manager (http://127.0.0.1:7657/i2ptunnelmgr) and scroll to "New client tunnel", ensuring 'Standard' (default) is the 'type', and hit 'Create'.
- Instructions for both (loosely ordered):
. - Set 'Name' / 'Description' to anything. 'XMPP' is fine.
. - Tick 'Automatically start tunnel when router starts' (or 'Auto-start' in app) if you don't want to remember to enable the connection.
. - Set 'Port' (or 'Binding port' in the app) to '5222' (default for XMPP)
. - Ensure 'Reachable by' is '127.0.0.1' (default)
. - Set Tunnel Destination to that which was sent (eg. long key ending with ...f2eswa6pq.b32.i2p). The app will helpfully warn you if the address/key is completely invalid.
. - i2prouter only: It will likely help anonymity to enable "Share tunnels with other clients" (in the app this is enabled automatically).
. - Select 'CREATE TUNNEL' (or 'Save' in i2prouter) when done.
. - The tunnel should now appear in the 'Client tunnels' list.
Congrats! You have a tunnel to the server!!! Now to send IMs into the tunnel 😛 -

INSTANT MESSAGING made invisible, and minus the dot-cons!
===============================================
These are the instructions to instant message (IM) a person like myself over the invisible internet (I2P) and using the open messaging protocol, XMPP. It works on all devices and desktops, including Mac, but not iOS (general tip: avoid apple).
STEP 1) Get I2PRouter (or i2pd)
----------------------------------------
- Visit https://geti2p.net/en/download and get 'i2prouter' for the device you intend to IM from (optionally get 'i2pd' instead, but I like to recommend i2prouter because it comes with some nice things like a torrent client. These instructions are thus for i2prouter and 'I2P for Android', although they *may* match very closely to i2pd).
- OPTIONAL BEST PRACTICE: You may want to verify the downloaded file by downloading the accompanying "sig" file into the same folder and using 'pgp4win' or the `gpg --verify-files <SIG_FILE>` command on your GNU+Linux.

@dcent You have "Replies", in the top left column, that will display anything addressed to you. And you can configure mail notifications in settings-email.
Currently, there's no web notifications (JS or not); it is planned for v3 of GNUSocial. -

Moving council away from proprietary software to a more equitable and ethical solution will give council greater control over how it can serves its functions, and secure long-term savings, not just in terms of licensing fees but also in terms of overall resilience against economic forces that are not always based on the realities we face but on speculations and other underhanded means.
Using freedom-respecting software that anyone can use will create greater scope for innovation, interoperability, transparency and equity; things we desperately need in the 21st century, yet in Australia we seem to lag behind.

@dcent Thanks for the suggestions! After some days using the "new" elbinario theme, I can say I like it a lot.
I've been uploading your recommendations to both GNUSocial and Elbinario gits, and I'm happy to keep doing it. Thanks again for your work! -

Yes, I have decided to again run for mayor.
I still stand for "COMMUNITY-SCALE DEVELOPMENT— NOT OVERDEVELOPMENT", for protecting our heritage, character and environment. Still for resisting tree canopy loss from less scrupulous developers, who would see our great region turn into a hot mess.
But I now come with a stronger vision to help council transition from proprietary software to Free-license + Open Source (FOS) software.

@simsa04 @lohang From the things I've been reading about groups in GS v3, devs have been contacting with other #fediverse software projects just to be sure there will be compatibility.
Also, I know Mastodon is said to implement groups in the future (I think more because popular demand than for devs willing to create them), but if #fediverse history has made something very clear is that Mastodon and GS groups will not be compatible. I'd love to be proven wrong in the future. -

Hi folks,
I'm trying to determine how to see all the "notifications" since I logged on. I'd like to see all the faves, boosts *and* replies/messages.
Is there a page that does that, or am I not seeing it because I have JS disabled? Maybe I should just enable the JS but I'm trying to do as much as possible without it, as a sort of test. -

Fantastic! How delightful it was to just come online today to see the CSS recommendations I put forward a few days ago adopted.
Very nice!
@administrator I will very likely have some more improvements in the pipeline.
BTW are these changes going upstream. I would fully support that AGPLv3 licensed, etc. 🙂 -

Ah, now I remember, we had this topic a year or so ago. I guess back then it was that Mastodon doesn't support the group feature which is why there has been set up a specific instance for "groups", pretty much like lists : https://a.gup.pe/ But perhaps people from mastodon can join fedigroups in gnusocial v3? @administrator
