The JIT compiler and Array#to_h change are exciting. I could get rid of some intermediate arrays in Mastodon with that... Unfortunately, we're gonna have to support Ruby 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 for a while so that's not going to be possible yet
My friend is telling me about an anime called "I was reincarnated as a slime" and I'm here thinking a lot of people on Mastodon would be into that scenario
I'm also thinking about a new user's path. We require e-mail confirmation before you can login. That's necessary to prevent spam and trolls. But what if you would immediately be logged in after sign up, but couldn't post or follow before confirming the e-mail? Perhaps that would be better?
The "welcome" screen looks like a modal window, and a lot of people seem to skip it instinctively. What if it was actually a full page? Also, the contents of it really need to be revised.
I feel like I don't explicitly state this often enough, but I want to see a future where most people are on federated social networks. Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey, etc, instead of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
You can simply drop it in your Mastodon server's public folder, and it will show images from your server in a mosaic grid with infinite scroll. Supports some configuration as well, e.g. whether to limit it to only local images, or a specific hashtag, or which server to fetch from.
Why do I still see people saying "Mastodon has no apps". There's a link to a list of apps in the footer and on the homepage. What else is there supposed to be? A huge popup?
