So update about Mastodon 2.6.0, there needs to be one more release candidate to test a few of the latest additions, but there's still a couple things holding it up

Okay never mind I found something better. All non-interactive previews will have the compact style (image on the left, title/source on the right), while all interactive previews will have the clickable 16:9 thumbnail only, so they'll be more consistent with native media

In-stream previews of links have been requested for a while. I've got it working, but not sure if the horizontal (large image) style should be kept, or everything should be forced into the the more compact style ?

The one monitoring tool Mastodon desperately needs is something that would scream alarm if the Sidekiq queue is growing faster than it's being processed

Okay, I think most blocking bugs in 2.6.0 are either resolved or on track to being resolved now.

The first release candidate of 2.6.0 only came out 4 days ago but it already feels like forever, my mind has no chill

If anyone out there with a Mastodon instance below 2.0.0 needs help upgrading, I'll do it

@thegibson I could write a bash script to upgrade to the latest version from whatever they're on, but what's the point if the admins aren't paying attention or aren't interested or whatever leads to being so far behind

Remember that 2 years anniversary of Mastodon blog post? I put a time table of most notable features in there: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2018/10/mastodons-2-year-anniversary/

So servers that are on 1.2.2, that version came out in April 2017. Imagine how much stuff they're missing, to say nothing of performance and security fixes

@millenomi The admin e-mail address was added in later versions, and even then not everyone has entered it.
