Contrary to the forecast, it isn't raining right now. And the birds are out, singing.

@simsa04 It is quite the opposite in this part of the world. We are getting too much of rain. Which is causing some minor floods and landslides in some areas. On the positive side, it has boosted the hydro power plants and reduced the power cuts we've been getting.

It's been raining cats and dogs. The Rain Appreciation Society must welcome these developments! \o/

The overly "neutral" stance the newspaper is trying to take on the incident is very disturbing. They have even interviewed the organizers of this crime.

It is very striking that they did not interview anyone representing the museum. Or an art historian or at least someone who opposes this madness.

Hello from Fedora 36!

Not only that, I have decided to be a good citizen and beta test the next release, and hopefully make sure that Sinhala Unicode input support will continue to work without any issues. \o/

I have become an involuntary distro hopper (a distro refugee?) because all the mainstream distros tend to break Unicode input support for my language with each release.

Okay, maintaining my own OS as a fix to the above problem is too much of a trouble. This is what I am going to do:

When Ubuntu 18.04 reaches end of life I will take this computer offline and continue to use it as a typewriter.

Considering the amount of time I spend each year, investigating into it and helping my friends and strangers with getting their first language going in a GNU/Linux system, I am starting to think that I can save time and energy by doing my own distro that has out-of-the-box Sinhala and Tamil input support. Then I can recommend that distro.

It's that time again! One of my friends has decided to use one of the latest GNU/Linux distros, obviously because people tend to like shiny new things. So she goes ahead and installs Ubuntu 22.04. It is the usual story. Like each and every mainstream distro, they have fixed things that are not broken. For the umpteenth time since 2005, we cannot find how to enable Sinhala Unicode input with the most widely-used keyboard layout. It's the same story with Fedora 36, Debian 11 etc.
