@shmibs I created a new Twitter to use solely for NFT stuff and mostly my followers and followees are now artists (and mostly women at that) and it is refreshingly mostly-free of random politics complaining or witch-hunts. People talk about their art, what's going on in their lives, it's great.

Everything is political but it's exhausting to make everything subject to endless debate and critique so I understand why and what people mean when they say they don't want to hear politics.

This doesn't have anything to do with the Fediverse, it's in response to a thread on a different social network about how cryptocurrency is political and if you don't see it you're in crypto for the wrong reasons. I can't imagine anyone saying this about any other currency that they wanted widely adopted.

Was looking at digital picture frames at the request of my parents. The market is not very good. Problems:* many have very low resolution, need to check carefully* some have poor viewing angle* some have hangable hooks, which is good, some have a VESA mount lol* SD card slot, but can't read photos off the card, you have to import them to the limited internal storage.* Many seem to use same software, which only allows you to import 10(!) pictures at a time. What if you have thousands?* WIFI only supports 2.4Ghz* Terrible software* Cloud-enabled, servers in China.

@bunni @norm Musk has made the same argument about government, you could try to get them to do X but they'll just fuck it up. At least for electric cars, the government tried to subsidize them into existence for years but Tesla made electric cars that people actually wanted. Feel like Space-X is similar, it had stagnated in government hands. I'm not really making an argument against government in general, but just American government from about Reagan-onwards.

@Delphic a little worried it has nvidia graphics, some people have no trouble but I always have.

@Delphic nvidia requires proprietary drivers and they're buggy so the community can't fix them

@Delphic as long as that particular gpu is officially supported it ought to just work, I just found I had more problems with nvidia than AMD (which open sourced almost everything) or Intel (sadly no good for gaming)
