did you guys know i used to have to *wait* for people to react to what i posted?

thing i reckon hasn't quite registered with many of the newcomers yet: this isn't a fully connected network where every server talks to every other server.

your view of the Fediverse depends on what server you live on.

this is also what makes it scalable to a massive user count. every server doesn't literally have to handle the traffic from the whole network. only the traffic from followed accounts and any relays the admins may have added.

how much interest would there be in the ability to quote statuses on here? i'm looking into at least adding support for properly displaying Misskey's quoted statuses in the berserker.town fork of Mastodon.

at least one custom JSON field in the Activity needs to be stored in Mastodon's DB. right now, the data is just being lost.
