Things boil down to the incorporation of Gitea Ltd and transfer of domains and trademarks to that business entity, without consulting the community. Wwith that Gitea is effectively no longer a community-driven project.

Forgejo is only a soft fork under custody of Codeberg who will use this as their downstream.

Forgejo is not yet launched, and the project wants minimal disruption / drama.

Without community involvement, as things are going now, in a couple years the Corporate Fediverse will be guaranteed. On the same road as the Web was before.. history doesn't repeat, but it rhymes 🤷

Yes, exactly. To me a social network also shouldn't be yet another information overload tool. There's a whole web already to overload me, and a media that project doom & gloom my way on a continuous basis.

I want my network to be more like a gem, where with like-minded friendly people we siff through the crazy stuff and muse about the wonder and beauty that's encountered on the web. Build stuff from it, inspire each other, be creative, and just have some fun. A relaxed place.
