after lots of planning me and @N33R are getting married in sweden on the 9th of november, if everything goes off without a hitch ❤️
we'd have done it in germany, but the german bureaucracy is a lot less trusting than the swedish one, people keep complaining that it's because it's paper-based but i think that's a red herring
in sweden you basically just need a document from the other country that says that you're unmarried and of legal age, then the schengen id is identification enough
people tend to do this in denmark but since i'm swedish we're doing it here ofc

@mono a salt mine?
-
the architecture is generally more pleasant up close, but still kind of sterile and weird
-
took an evening walk and climbed the parking garage in the half-finished new neighborhood for some photos
-
@djsumdog they have interesting little alleyways and squares and paths between the buildings, along with common spaces enclosed in these kind of greenhouse like buildings?
but it's still very boxy, yea

@djsumdog
sweden, and yeah there's two roads through it, but many of the buildings you have to walk to, there's free standing single family houses innamiddle of condos, very weird layout

@toiletpaper @djsumdog
the 15 minute cities being some sort of evil plot is the most insane conspiracy theory i've seen yet, especially considering the political leanings of the adherents
i live in an european city filled with genuine classical architecture (and a cathedral, and a castle, and real noble mansions...) far older than the US and the whole city core bans non-business car traffic, you have to walk if you want to get stuff but that's fine because everything is in walking range, just like cities used to be
you'd think reactionaries would be all over this concept, but no?
