   Before I go off to celebrate Midsummer by being in bed sick (Swedish woes), I want to share a small update.

   #Tusky will keep blocking servers which actively promote fascism. This in particular means Gab.

   We will get our next release out just in time for the 4th of July.

   Don't even try to debate us about Free Speech. This is our speech, exercising #ANTIFA views. And we will keep doing it :toot:

   We will post a bigger update at a later time about what this all really means.

     All I wonder is, how difficult is it create and maintain a fork of Tusky that's visually and functionally identical just without this gay instance block bullshit. Because at this point, I just want to do it out of spite.

     I don't know if FOSS necessarily requires things like platform neutrality to be considered "free" or "libre" or whatever, but arbitrarily limiting functionality for the end user based on nothing more than the developer's politics seems like it ought to make the software "unfree" to me.

     Browser is slow and clunky and shit, at least for me. Probably because this tablet is old and slow and clunky, but I'm more concerned about the abstract principle here.

     I' m more concerned with scaling the idea up for the sake of those who can't or don't know how to fork, modify, and build code. But yes, it isn't de facto difficult to do.

     Worth trying FDroid, at least. If they list it, great. If they reject it without good reason, they'll be exposed as censorious partisans and hopefully spur the creation of an alternative.
