   @opal @taiz OnStar is a bugging device too, even if you don't pay for it. There was a court case years ago over whether it was legal for cops to turn OnStar into a microphone when doing so would disable the safety features of the device, the court said no. So Onstar "improved" their units so they can do lawful intercept without turning off the emergency features.

     @moonman @opal @taiz it should also be noted that many non-GM cars now have OnStar through subcontracting
