    Pleroma 1.1 RC2 is now tagged, bagged, and out the door.

    OTP releases will be available here: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/pipelines/18367

    Pleroma 1.1.0 final will be next monday, assuming no show-stoppers are found between now and then (seems doubtful).

    Thanks to @rin for helping manage the 1.1 releases so far.

    C++11 is really an entirely different language by comparison to previous C++ versions. C++20 builds on top of the momentum with C++11 and really brings some amazing stuff.

    i agree that C++03 and earlier were trash, but modern C++ is really worth using.

    this is also why Pleroma FE does not do the firehose effect by default. you simply cannot do firehose and not have it confuse the fuck out of screen readers. this is also why Twitter stepped back from doing firehose too.

    the reality is that blind people on the fediverse use Tusky or Amaroq because both of those apps play nice with screen readers. the web client is entirely unusable.

    tired: bullying people for not using alt-text (even though they can't use Mastodon anyway except through apps)

    wired: spending that time to make mastodon web client actually work with screen readers

    (unfortunately the column layout is going to be impossible for a blind person to successfully navigate, but simple mode could be fixed :))

    i'm quite serious by the way, if mastodon folks want to bully people for not using alt text while mastodon web client fails to work with JAWS in any usable way, i'm just going to rip out alt text support.

    accessibility isn't a pissing contest.

    @charlag I’m still annoyed that Mastodon hijacked the name field in Document objects for the description instead of using description (which is also in the vocabulary)

    anyway, with regards to the incident involving fedi.absturztau.be, I will note the following facts surrounding the incident.

    1. the actual contents of the post were not directly verified, but instead inferred from the text content and attachment names of the post.

    2. the person in question says the content in the file was not CP.

    3. the post in question was deleted by the admin, so it is no longer accessible.

    given that nobody involved actually verified the contents of the attachment, and the post in question is now deleted, i cannot say for certain that it was or was not CP.

    accordingly, in the absence of any evidence to confirm that it was CP, i am personally willing to accept the explanation of the person in question, that it was a shitpost, that the attachment was *not* CP or any other illegal material, and that the whole thing has gotten completely blown out of proportion.

    i apologize to the person in question for fanning the flames in regard to that incident. they deserve better than that.

    i also apologize to the admin of the instance in question.

    @Julia

    i'm not going to argue about it, i will simply say that i do not know whether the post actually contained illegal materials or not.

    and so, if it was "bait" posting and the content was simply lolicon artwork, then I am willing to believe that as an explanation.

    accordingly, i apologize if anyone has tried to "cancel" you as a result of anything I said about the incident.

    @Julia

    it was reported to me as CP by trusted individuals, and that the filename indicated it may legitimately be CP.

    I will admit that I did not personally verify the physical contents of the image in question.

    and besides, my point had nothing to do with you, but rather that people on instances where incidents like that happen (either real or fake) should check themselves before complaining about being banned from other instances.

    further, admins will certainly go by the filename provided in the description, as we do not want to even risk exposure to that shit. exposure means potential jail time.

    so, no, I don't know if you actually uploaded CP or not. I do know you uploaded files that were descriptive of CP in the filename.

    i suggest avoiding uploading such files in the future if you do not want to be perceived as having uploaded CP.
