   Glad Lenovo started selling ThinkPads with Linux now.I'm not glad that there seems to be no sign of them ever arriving in Norway though.

     @normandy @quad @georgia @tuxcrafting Yeah, so shipping FreeDOS is a way to get around that. "We're not shipping blank hard drives, we're shipping them with FreeDOS!" (plus it's nice for the, like, 5 people who use FreeDOS as a daily driver)

     @quad @tuxcrafting @georgia from what I heard the agreements the OEMs have with Microsoft forbids them from shipping a barebones system with no OS on it or at the very least it forbids them from getting the volume discount on windows licenses.

     @tuxcrafting @georgia it's only so they don't ship with Windows.Not sure why they refuse to ship the laptops OS-less. But companies like HP, Lenovo and Dell have been shipping their business range laptops with FreeDOS for ages because IT departments will just PXE boot their own Windows install over it anyways, so why pay for a windows license with the machine.
