PonyPanda (ponypanda@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 13-May-2022 05:39:56 JST PonyPanda @shmibs you've already bought the product by the time you have have to deal with the sticker. It's cheaper for them to do it this way. -

Hyolobrika (hyolobrika@berserker.town)'s status on Friday, 13-May-2022 07:03:33 JST Hyolobrika @lain @shmibs I mean, I would assume that taking money by force means you don't have to be as helpful to clients and can more easily get away with annoying stickers. So I was confused when you made that argument.I think it's the opposite pretty much everywhere in the world to my knowledge.

clay vaulin (clayvaulin@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 13-May-2022 07:38:42 JST clay vaulin @shmibs @lain wages, rent, utilities, taxes and shipping (in the case of online stores) arent free, when i go to a used bookstore rather than a library giveaway i'm either going to brows shelves and find a hidden gem or ordering something online that is out of print and isn't available digitally. sure there are shitty used bookstores just like there are shitty businesses everywhere but even then people are paying for used books to be distributed rather than ending up in a landfill because nobody who happened to be at the library offload was interested. -

lain (lain@lain.com)'s status on Friday, 13-May-2022 07:46:49 JST lain @shmibs @Hyolobrika customers give money for happiness, this is what's optimized for. The only way to 'exploit' this is monopoly, which is usually force applied by the state. I have no sympathies for force applied by private actors either. -

clay vaulin (clayvaulin@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 13-May-2022 07:49:49 JST clay vaulin @shmibs @lain does this also apply to recycling centers and thrift stores since they take stuff people don't want (often for free or even paid for by the supplier in the case of many recyclers) and make it into a product? -
