Killed all the bots

So, the profile directory feature. Thoughts:

Follower counts in the table. Some don't like that column. I think, it has the potential to have the opposite effect to what you're thinking, it may motivate people to follow people who have less. It's also one click away so I don't think it's worth hiding.

I started Mastodon because I believe in decentralization. The more servers there are, and the more people are spread throughout them, the stronger the network is.

I encourage people to join other servers, or start their own.

However! mastodon.social is the gateway for those who are undecided, or who don't yet know about decentralization. It is also my baby just like the software itself. I do not appreciate hostility towards it when promoting the benefits of other servers. Thanks

I think if the "fediverse" were to have a logo, it should make use of the space analogy. Make it a graph between stars, with some stars in the background. Not just a very generic graph.

I've pushed out Mastodon v2.6.4 which you have no reason to care about if you were able to upgrade to v2.6.3 without problems. For Docker people and new installations, please:

Ironically the event-stream dependency can be easily avoided. I'm removing it and then bumping to v2.6.4 so everyone can upgrade. Awkward situation though, I'm sorry.

The unfortunate consequence is that Docker images for v2.6.3 cannot be built because of this. The upgrade will work fine for all existing non-Docker installations, but not fresh ones.

So event-stream 3.3.6 was removed from NPM because it depended on vulnerable flatmap-stream 0.1.1. But in Mastodon's dependency tree, we had event-stream 3.3.6 depending on flatmap-stream 0.1.0.

Anyway, because event-stream 3.3.6 was yanked from NPM all of our builds break right now

I'm working on a way to delete your old toots, but can't decide what's a better approach, having a setting to opt into a scheduled task that queries old toots and deletes them when it finds them, or have a button that would initiate the delete for a time period manually.

Also in both cases I have to think of how to space the deletes out so they don't impact other activities on the server. :angery:
