I'm a militant pacifist

@khaosgrille @lukas you prefer involuntary aid. health insurance in germany (and most other collective health systems) isn't insurance, it's a prepaid subsidized health plan.
-
@khaosgrille @lukas beside the voluntary/involuntary aspect, an insurance is something that hedges against an uncertain future. You get car insurance in case you crash your car. You can't crash your car and then get the insurance later, but that's how our 'health insurance' works, you can join any time for any price. Whether that's a good system or not is a different topic, but it isn't insurance.
-
@khaosgrille @lukas no, i would abolish all state involvement in healthcare. People can get insurance if they want. "but what about people who are born sick? no insurance would take them" - parents can get insurability insurance. "but what if they don't" - charity, voluntary help. "but i want people to be forced to help" <- if that's you then that's a disagreement we won't resolve.but remember, i do think that healthcare is much more expensive than it has to be.
-
@shmibs sounds lame
-
@khaosgrille @lukas > pay hundreds of euro every month for decades> at 60 get diabetes> still pay hundres of euro every month, but get insulin paid by your insuranceI don't like these free things that i have to pay so much for.
-
@khaosgrille @lukas would be nice
-
@khaosgrille @lukas i like it when people help others, i don't like it when they are forced to do so.
-
@khaosgrille @lukas mutual aid, charity, access to cheaper doctors (because they are less experienced, for example), less expensive insurances (because they only insure catastrophic situations, for example). Health services right now are much, much more expensive than they need to be. Insulin in the US costs 10 times more than in canada, and it's even cheaper in india or mexico. So why do people (or pharmacies, for that mattter) not just import the meds from india or mexico? you know the answer.

-
ok
-
@shmibs @bot @p @parker @ademan see, this is our disagreement
-
@shmibs @bot @p @parker @ademan of course you can lie, they put 'a good source of protein!' on everything in the US.
-
@shmibs @bot @p @parker @ademan bleach can be bought in every supermarket
-
@shmibs @bot @p @parker @ademan there's more money in living people than in dead people, even if the state of the world convinced you otherwise
-
@ademan @bot @p @parker @shmibs i also wouldn't expect every person to check lab reports for themselves, but i would expect shops to build up a reputation to check lab reports, so that after some time people would now 'if you buy there, you won't die'. same reason people go to mcdonald's in foreign countries if they don't know what to eat.
-
@ademan @bot @p @parker @shmibs i didn't invent the lab reports as some imagined outcome of an ancap future, these are things that are happening right now. both the legal thc and lsd variants generally come with lab reports from reputable labs, because people do care. Not being able to know if your drugs are clean are the biggest fear of most users.
