augustus pugin ?>Paradise Lost >Dante's Inferno highly acclaimed, universally celebrated works, beloved my many, draws many dimes >Paradise Regained >Dante's Paradiso literally nobody has read these shitty sequels which are about Jesus or something, idk, despite being by the same authors. the lesson here: Satan is a draw. put him on the card and you'll sell out every time.
@mono it is pure medieval morality, the trucks are lower down on the great chain of being, and those naive engines who have liberal delusions about helping them are quickly BTFO'd by the eternal fallen nature of the trucks

augustus pugin ?One concept in the Academic Agent lore sphere is that of "the trucks". The trucks are characters from Thomas the Tank Engine, they are aggressively stupid, numerous rolling stock that need to be shunted by the proper tank engines. If left alone they will break every rule possible and end up killing themselves in the process through their own adventurousness and stupidity. The Trucks represent the untouchable primordial unruly unwashed masses who cannot be saved and must be herded by the real engines into some semblance of order. AA regularly refers to his chat as being trucks, and regards most of society as trucks.
>In 2021, O'Sullivan claimed on a podcast interview that most snooker players had wasted their lives. He called snooker a "bad sport" that can cause "a lot of damage", suggesting that the antisocial nature of solitary practice in a darkened environment can stunt players' personal development. He stated that he would not support his own children if they chose to become snooker players the GOAT
https://youtu.be/xbWH5MgU9J4 This scene is awesome. I don't know if it's intentional but the blood streak down Kayako's cheek makes it very briefly look like she is grinning a hideous demonic smile when her face comes into view, but its only a split second and then you realize she looks more worried and intrigued. absolutely fucked me up on first viewing
in Ringu at the end she is frantically driving to her father's house to basically murder him by making him watch the tape so she can spare her son from Sadako
I also read the plot of Ringu and it actually made sense, I only ever saw the US version and so much shit in that film just made no sense to me at the time, now it's finally clicked for me the horror of needing to get someone else to watch the tape to be spared yourself. in the US film they just needed to make a duplicate of the tape, which is not very dramatic
this is another thing that the US version fucked up by making Samara's family some creepy Addams family that comes pre-packaged as spooky and old-timey/cursed
also I never understood that the tape exists supposedly because she has ESP and projected her rage onto audiovisual film, so that even after they "save" her, the tape is still an unchanged recording of her vengeful spirit. such a good blend of traditional folk panics with modern technology

augustus pugin ?>The Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) is a privately owned museum whose stated aim is "to celebrate the labor of artists whose work would be displayed and appreciated in no other forum".[1] Its permanent collection includes over 700 pieces of "art too bad to be ignored", 25 to 35 of which are on public display at any one time.[3]
I'm not saying Popeye is bad btw, I've just never considered it Jewish before until I looked closer

augustus pugin ?Something about the artstyle of Popeye triggered my JQ detector. I never would've normally imagined it, but seeing their strange alien proportions and faces made me look into it. It looks like Maus, or even the modern globohomo artstyle with the long bendy limbs. Also the idea that eating spinach turns you into a badass is proto-bugman. I'm amazed I could correctly detect the creator's ethno-religious background just from his artstyle, but I somehow could.
>On 3 December 1933, Popeye met an old sea buddy, Bill Barnacle - nicknamed "Salty", and on 10 December they both soon discovered an intriguing creature - a tall, heavily-built, bald humanoid with dotted eyes, a large nose (comparable with a proboscis monkey), no visible mouth and hairy arms and legs. Whenever it talks, it's just word balloons filled with indecipherable scribbles. Originally this creature worked as a servant-guard for The Sea Hag. It wasn't until 14 January 1934 that readers learned its name and realized it was female: Alice the Goon. Alice's haunting look and indeterminable gender confused, disturbed and frightened some young readers. After Segar received concerned letters from parents, Alice eventually became an ally of Popeye. She was revealed to have a younger daughter, and moved in with Popeye and Olive to babysit Swee'pea. it's a lot stranger than I expected
