@karen する is precisely the light verb that Japanese uses to transform a syntactic noun into a verb capable of taking morphology. linguists generally prefer to use syntactic roles as the criteria for determining the part of speech of a lexical entry, since the same semantic concept can manifest itself as a noun, verb, both or neither, depending on what language you're talking about.

@karen @aetios I genuinely disagree with you on this! it's not as good as super metroid of course and some of the controls are madly limiting at times, but on the whole the 2d metroid gameplay still works pretty well even on an NES

@karen @aetios I would add Metroid and a couple others to the list but yeah gaming didn't get really good until the 16 bit era, you just couldn't do that much with a NES's processing power
