@xue @sim @shmibs thale last book I bought was in 2019 about the Shikoku pilgrimage I didn't get to go on in 2020, I have transitioned to digital and don't buy books anymore. I don't appreciate them as decoration or social signals anymore.

@sim the only thing I don't like about this is the books are all consistent like they're just decoration or something. bookshelves should look messy, that is my aesthetic.

@xue @sim I mean that reference works are obsolete so they're de facto decoration, if you spend your life collecting interesting books they are not gonna look like that at all.

@shmibs @Hyolobrika circumcision is medically unnecessary but most fgm is completely indefensible. Just convince them to do a single nick with a scalpel like some places do and it's not even as bad as circumcision.

@GaryPaulWood in all seriousness @hckr got right except they're not gibberish they are just nonlinear and nonrational ways of learning. They do not hand-hold. you may have to have previous knowledge before you could hope to understand them. I guess a bunch of them probably don't make sense because one doesn't have intense instruction in buddhism or specific instruction by the teacher who made the koan.So basically they are like indie music. Oh you haven't heard this koan? It's pretty underground. maybe you don't understand it because you don't have enough buddhistical knowledge and need something made for babies.

@cowanon many people prefer tiny houses because they reject the consumerism of the modern age, as well as the expectations of having a lawn, etc.
