@ARCONITE @shibao we actually do need updated infrastructure but I don't see why americans are going to take construction jobs instead of mexicans, they work harder on shittier jobs for less money so
-
@shmibs "I will in due course defend an information theoretic account of knowledge that makes no appeal a all to the things a knower needs to possess or be able to do in order to defend one's claims."
-
@shmibs I use they/them for most people but one time I ready an obituary that honored their they/them pronouns and it was nearly unreadable because you couldn't tell subjects apart so I get why people don't like it.
-
we are all God's children and he left us in a hot car
-
@shmibs wow, that is like, it was written for you specifically
-
@shmibs I misspoke and made an overly broad statement. I'm sorry.
-
what people outside the us don't understand about us politics is how hopeless we feel about the government doing anything right with money we give it, which leads many of us to just not want to pay any taxes at all rather than see more and more of our paychecks flushed down the toilet.A common example around america is something I call the trolley problem 2. which is, every town has a dumbass who wants it to buy a trolley and install it in the downtown to "increase tourism". we don't want a fucking trolley, fix the fucking sidewalks

Images from March 2020 that didn't age well

@lain those people are all dead now
-
@matrix they canonically were trapped in an ice cave from 1812 to 1968.
-
@shmibs apparently this mainly impacts later in life like menopause age. that doesn't undermine anything you said though just that we don't consider menopausal women to be a separate sex. maybe we should, maybe that would be useful scientifically, I don't know. I think enough people conform to certain definitions that you can have a decent starting point when thinking about their individual health care.
-
@shmibs what i am saying is that imbalances that aren't enough to cause people to deviate from trends for sexual dimorphism are the majority of intersex. it's scientifically accurate but it skews common perception of how many people don't conform.
-
@shmibs @wowaname most intersex people are only hormone imbalanced and doesn't have visible impact until later in life. I am not sure what to do with this data
-
@shmibs @lain I guess this is good in science stuff sort of like how they don't say that gay people mostly get aids, it's "men having sex with men"on the other hand these people here are probably literally afraid to say woman
-
@shmibs @bot I only know you from our talking online so I would be careful about ascribing things to you, but you strike me as irreligious. not a bad thing but just concrete thoughts and not fluffy religous experience ones
-
@shmibs no not everyone, some people are built for it imo
-
@bot @shmibs genetically some people feel spiritual and some don't feel it.
-
@bot @shmibs it's possible. I'm not certain.
-
@shmibs I could sense connections between everything, like I was watching a movie and I could see a meaning behind every picture hanging on the wall in a scene, a character wearing a hat by the water became a symbol of a swan, water, music, everything. I left with my girlfriend and took a walk with my dog and I could feel the meaning of just everything pouring through me.
-
@shmibs yeah I think that some people just aren't predisposed to religious experiences. like, I don't think I could take them and NOT have a religious experience. it is VERY powerful for me
