@Moon @shmibs Why does meat consumption in particular concern you? I think the 25% increase in calories over the last 40 years from grains and oils is the cause of our obesity and therefore health problems.

@shmibs Parents are never going to be able to read entire books for objectionable content before their child begins, the only way to reasonably filter content is to precategorize. It appears the library is doing an actual review and deciding to keep at least some of the items in dispute. It's reasonable to not provide certain types of content to young children; this isn't "first graders aren't allowed to read Tolkien" it is "first graders shouldn't be reading 50 Shades of Grey without parental approval".
