It's been 7 months since the first announcement of :pixelfed:.

Federation code has been pushed and am working on some bug fixes. Thanks for all the support, and I can't wait to post the first pixelfed reply!

Got into the Digital Ocean Managed Database beta. I'd have to sign a NDA though, and not willing to lie to pixelfed.social users so I didn't proceed.

@kaiyou This is for S3, Wasabi, Digital Ocean Spaces, ect. A lot of instances already use that.

Every instance defaults to local storage so its only useful if you use S3 or a S3-compatible service.

One of the nice things about pixelfed is that you can run it on a cheap LAMP stack.

- Redis is optional, you can use database or fs cache instead.

- It doesn't require much RAM if you choose to not optimize photos and videos and can poll instead of use websockets for realtime updates.

- You can use MySQL, Postgres, SQLite and SQLServer databases.

- Media uploads can be stored on S3 or S3-compatible services.

@Groosha Hi, I will be pushing a lot more l10n strings that will need translation soon. We have a few russian translations but it will still need a lot of work like every other language besides english.

I am working on a long term solution for translations that would allow anyone to contribute without having to know git(hub).
