The wasabi outage has made pixelfed more resilient to 3rd party outages. The cloud storage drivers will now fallback to local storage when an outage or unavailability is detected. #pixelfed #pixeldev

@sivy Pixelfed may act like a startup but I would never take institutional funding. The project belongs to the people, donations and a non-profit foundation would be more likely.

Also considering the option to define multiple cloud storage drivers. You could host video on S3 and photos on Wasabi with minimal code!

When you upload media to :pixelfed:, it gets stored locally and optimized or transcoded then it can be stored on S3, Wasabi, DO Spaces, ect.

With the wasabi outage, i'm thinking that falling back to local storage should be possible if the cloud storage is unavailable.

Its crazy enough it was posted to Product Hunt, I didn't expect the founder to tweet about it. ?
