@yata did you spill all your spaghetti
-
@shmibs @sloppyhog yeah I was only looking at it from an individual harm perspective, it could be argued that existence of a bunch of guns leads to gun violence whether or not your particular gun shot someone.
-
@sloppyhog the reason possession of child pornography is illegal is that it violates the rights of the victim. There's no equivalent to that with owning a gun because I bought my gun and its existence doesn't hurt anybody by just existing.
-
hm can't even just split a string into unicode and ascii because there are unicode characters that combine with ascii, like the first one I posted
-
lmao unicode is a nightmare,
-
@RikaDerufu @ComfyGuy had a nurse girlfriend for a while, seems like having a uterus in general has problems. not kidding.
-
@ademan all I can say is slippery slopes are real man
-
@ademan I'm not gonna draw a line anywhere for the peanut gallery but some of this shit crossed it yeah
-
I decide things using only logic and reason. I have never had an erection.

Jesus didn't condemn sinners but when he stopped a woman from being stoned for adultery he told her "go and sin no more".
-
@xue in this case it's more about combating the idea that jesus wasn't judgmental about sin since he hung around with sinners
-
I just don't care about "cultural heritage" when it comes to language. Please let us all just convert to using an unambiguous phonetic alphabet with tone markers.
-
incidentally null char is in there because it's valid unicode and present in some of my real-world data lol
-
@amerika a little bit is good but just a little.
-
@amerika there's a word to describe things that don't change, its "dead"
-
you don't see a lot of black people idealizing the fifties for some reason

@helene A day or so ago I had mentioned that a doujin I was reading was using using idol fandom slang. There's not remotely any appropriate English translation for these words, so the translator retained the words with a translator note. If it were a commercial translation for children they would have just used conventional English, and never mentioned the terms. That is a decision you make when you are trying to hide the Japanese origin of the material from the reader, at which point what are you even a fan of
-
@helene it wouldn't be a big deal if one didn't push out the other.
-
If you need your manga altered to be less Japanese, please just get out.
-
